I am very excited to announce that this Saturday I will be teaming up with the talented Melody Hyde to offer Christmas Card Mini-Sessions. Melody works for "Stampin' Up!" as a concept artist, designing cards and projects for their catalogs. The sessions will include a 20 minute photography session with me, and then a consultation with Melody where you will be able to choose from her lovely designs and customize your cards in one easy step. Perfect way to get your cards put together in one easy step (especially for all you procrastinators out there).

This is a family that just might look familiar to you, and one that I've had the pleasure of knowing since I was a little girl. They called me up and asked if I'd be willing to travel down to St. George and do a session in front of the red rock and I was excited to have the opportunity to photograph such a beautiful family in that gorgeous backdrop.

This family also broke a new record in my book, the best "funny face" picture award:

The Aliens Have Landed!

Should you walk into my studio and find what appears to be a UFO consuming my camera coming toward you don't worry, it's all part of the plan.

This giant-sized flash is called an "Alien Bee's Ring Flash" and it's a piece I'd anticipated adding to my arsenal for sometime now. It arrived on my doorstep just today, and I am hope to sneak in a demo shoot this weekend.

Triplets!

I'm lucky enough to be the mommy to four-year-old twin boys. It's brought a lot of adventure to our lives and we love it. But knowing what I know, I have a very real respect for mothers with triplets. Despite the challenges that surely arise, the mama of these three cuties is one of the most optimistic and happy moms I've ever seen. She has two older boys and is currently living the life of five kids, five and under! She was an inspiration to watch in action as she juggled those three babies with her two helpers, and her little ones were a pleasure to work with!

Mama wanted to do a vintage style shoot, and had all three of her little ones dressed perfectly! (And would you believe that she made most of their accessories?)

When our shoot was over I had the chance to help feed the babies and it was heavenly! Little miss snuggled right up and fell asleep in my arms. (Not used to that with three wild little boys.) Thanks again {M} family!

This past weekend I had the chance to work with not one, not two, but three of the most chubby and adorable babies you've ever seen! Though I'm very experienced working with multiples (being a mama of twin boys) this was actually my first time working with triplets. It was nothing short of amazing watching their mama (and her two helpers) juggle those sweet babies. There are many more images to come, but I had to post a quick preview.

This was how our morning began; three happy little faces all looking up and smiling! This was one of my favorite sessions of all time and there are many, many more adorable images and stories to follow.

I've had the pleasure of doing a lot of newborn sessions lately. This was a fun one, starring this little lovely and her beautiful family!

Baby "C" has two handsome big brothers who adore her, and will inevitably be protective of her as she grows up.

I love the story behind this last set of pictures. Baby "C" was born on her mommy's 30th birthday, and was brought home in the exact same stocking her mommy was brought home in, thirty years ago.

Sweet little snuggles! The newborn phase goes by way too quickly if you ask me.

I'm a little behind on blogging recent photo sessions. The holiday season is the busiest time of year for me, and I'm still playing catch-up. But I am very excited to show you photos from this next session.

In August of 2009 I share some information about my good friends, Steve and Amy, who booked a session for their adoption profile. I am ecstatic to report that they were recently chosen to adopt the most beautiful baby girl!

The Bargeron Family

I have known the Bargeron family for a number of years. Tami was my roommate in college, and she and Kevin dated and were engaged that year. They have two beautiful boys, and are hoping to adopt.

Tami gave me permission to share a story about her oldest. He has autism, and anyone familiar with autism knows unexpected surprises or changes can be difficult. When they first arrived he was upset because he thought getting family pictures meant that they were going to Kiddie Kandids (their usual destination). But Tami and Kevin were so great working with him and reassuring him that before long he gave me a little smile...

And then there was no stopping his vivacious and wonderful personality from coming through!

His younger brother is an cutie too, and cracked me up with his happy and outgoing personality.

They really are such an incredible family!

M&T opted to do their Bridals/Groomals together, and it's something I highly recommend. It breaks tradition but allows you to take your time and get photos together in places and lighting that otherwise might not be possible. We started in the evening light and shot until the sun went down.

Did you start to think I'd fallen off the face of the planet?

Well in a way I had, at least as far as the photography business was concerned. I have been on a hiatus so I could put all of my energy into my personal life which included building this:
I am especially excited to announce that our new home includes my own photography studio!

We were also thrilled to welcomed baby boy #3 into our family in late July:
He is just as sweet as he looks!

But now that things are settling down I'm back into the full swing of things with my photography. I'm accepting a few more family bookings for the fall and I will also be offering some special studio events. (More details coming soon.)

These two were absolute troopers! About five minutes after the shoot began it started to rain a classic Utah downpour. We waited it out for a little bit under a barn overhang, and when it lightened up to a sprinkle we ventured out onto the wet and muddy grounds. Christina and Josh were great to work with despite the unpleasant weather and we took some great shots!

The rain did bring it's advantages, such as stormy dark skies and lush looking vegetation.

Presented as a detailed lecture and discussion on basic photography skills including information on composition, lighting, portraiture, editing techniques and more. Ideal for those wanting to learn some simple tricks and techniques that will help your photos stand out.

Now Booking Mini-Sessions for April 11th

Spring is in the air (slowly but surely) and to celebrate I am offering mini-session on Saturday, April 11th from 9-11am (the day before Easter). Mini-sessions are a great way to get updated pictures of your children and family without spending a lot of money. (Due to the limited time frames, mini sessions will be restricted to immediate family groups or smaller.)

Each mini session is 25 minutes long and you will receive a cd of your hand-edited photos and a copyright release to those images. The cost for a mini session is $30 and sessions will be taking place downtown SLC.

I am only offering 4 time slots, so if you'd like to book a mini-session contact me right away!

Welcome to the new Holly Hyde Photography blog! I promise it's still me blogging, but with a fresh new look! I've been wanting to do a major overhaul on my blog for far too long, but the real inspiration came when I collaborated with my amazingly talented sister-in-law (Melody Hyde) and asked her to create a new logo for my business. She did such a great job and I couldn't be happier with it! Clean, contemporary, classic! What more could a girl want?

I stayed up until what is now 4 am to get everything programmed and ready to go, but it was worth it! My favorite new feature is the menu tab up top. Now you can find helpful information and look through different sessions by subject. So feel free to take a minute and check things out.

I love engagement sessions, and this one was especially fun. Aaron and Nicole are such a beautiful couple and it's easy to see they are completely in love!

Such a cute family! We had to relocate to the JSMB at the last minute due to nasty weather, but we had a lot of fun and were able to get some very cute pics.

A couple of pictures of my twin sister. She was my model for this week's homework assignment with my photography group - "Eyes." These pictures make me a little sad as she's gone back to NY now where she is attending medical school.

With the holidays over I am buried in editing photo shoots, and will be posting several family sessions soon!
